September 2018 Lighthouse Lacers Newsletter

 

Meetings will be held in the 2nd floor conference room (by deli department and accessible by stairs and elevator) at Festival Foods, 3207-80th Street, Kenosha, WI, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

The August 11th meeting was attended by nine members.
President Rose Ann thanked Candy for hosting June potluck.

Convention attendees (Jan, Theresa, and Deb) shared their class projects, prizes they won, and experiences at the IOLI meeting in
San Antonio. Reminded people to take pillow as a carry-on item and extra time may be needed through TSA screening if you have spangles on your bobbins.
Favors are requested for the 2019 convention to be held in
Spokane, WA the week of July 21-27. “Seeds of Lace” will be hosted by the Walla Walla and Spokane chapters.
Suggestions for favors to be discussed at September meeting.

San Francisco, CA

Rose received a letter from IOLI with a new charter chapter certificate to reflect the organization’s name change. They also requested that someone from our chapter should attend the convention session for chapter members next year.  She also received the convention CD -contact her to borrow.


Discussion about demo at Maker’s Faire November 3rd, Pleasant Prairie Rex Plex between
10:00 and 3:00. Application due 10-5. Let Rose Ann know if interested or able to attend this day.

Jan has contacted Hospice, and we will meet October 13th at
1:00 p.m. to decorate the tree, Hospice Alliance, 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd, Pleasant Prairie, WI.  Keep track of your time making ornaments.

Sylvia shared her bobbin stars, animals and figures. She had an original pattern published in summer 2018 “Lace” edition titled: Impossible Figure Lace.

Deb Soderland belongs to a smocking guild. Has gotten the IOLI lace box in past and is getting it for her national meeting in Sept. May have it early enough to share at our Sept meeting.

Potluck- location discussion should start soon. Someone’s house, restaurant, Festival Foods conference room (they cater) were mentioned.

September 8: bring your “work in progress” to share. IOLI LACE Box will be there to look through! Thanks Deb.
October 13: decorate tree at Hospice

November 10: work meeting (convention favors and plan for next year)
December 8: holiday lunch, location TBD/election of officers/dues collected
