Meeting on September
9th was held at Festival Foods between 1:00 and
3:00. Vice-President Fran conducted the
meeting. There were seven members present.
Jane Scheef Lace Day in development phase, to be
finalized at October meeting.
Gwen can teach in "one-room schoolhouse"
fashion to accommodate all skill levels.
Marilee will be demonstrating tatting at the
Makers Faire in
Milwaukee
September 24th.
Four members will discuss and demonstrate lace
to the Christian Women's group - Basilica of St.
Joseph in
Milwaukee
on September 25th. (Rose Ann, Pat, Jan,
and Marilee)
Makers Faire in November
- as it is on Thanksgiving weekend, opted not to
participate.
Jan shared her projects from the IOLI convention
along with her enjoyment of the week. She
was one of 300 participants that received a
convention bag with many favors - earrings, pen,
notebook, tissue cover, crochet bobbin holder,
bobbin cloth holder, thread, magnet for picking
up pins, liberty bell, needle case, trash bag,
pin cushion, scrunchies, wooden box and Hersey
Kiss mouse. Passed around several books
with patterns.
Convention DVD viewed by Barbara
Gordon and returned to Fran.
2018 IOLI convention will be in San
Antonio, TX July 22-28. Handout with list
of instructors was passed out.
Sharing portion of meeting:
Barbara made more beautiful ice drops.
Sylvia has her flower basket on background
fabric and the group suggested finishing
touches. She also has done flowers for
window to keep birds out. She also had showed
us a redwork project completed.
Marilee
showed us her heart bracelet in development and
a lovely wire trimmed necklace.
Trish
and Therese shared how lace was used in quilts at
the
Madison
quilt show.
Remember to keep track of your lace
hours - IOLI has an updated online form to use.
Do not have to enter "seconds," only hours and
minutes spaces. You do not have to be an IOLI
member to submit hours for the hours to count
for our chapter. Categories to keep track
of are: demonstrating lace, travel time to and
from event, preparation time preceding event,
gratis teaching, programs presented and other
type of hours used to promote lace.

November 11th -
retreat - Pat will teach Carrickmacross. This
will be 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the
Avalon Parc Clubhouse, potluck lunch.
Remember, if you want to BYOP (bring your own
project), there is plenty of space. Let
Pat know if you need a kit by October 1st.
Homework is required prior to retreat, so Pat
will host a session at her home on October 21st
for those who are new to the grounding
technique. Details were sent in email from
her.
December 9th - Potluck at Pat's
with gift exchange. Dues of $6 will also
be collected..
