June 2023 Lighthouse Lacers Newsletter

There was no meeting in April.

The May meeting was held at the Southside public library conference room, 7979-38th Avenue, Kenosha, WI,  from 1-3 PM.  Six members were present.  We worked on convention favors (luggage tags) and 200 are ready to go to convention. Everyone present should record one hour for volunteer time for this activity.

Rose Ann reported 350 hours for the past year from our Guild members.                     Cathy has ordered 12 Battenberg angel kits and the Hardanger material for ornaments.

Sylvia brought the completed four seasons pieces that are going to China, along with Chrsyantanum lace, ten angels, and shamrock hearts to share with us.

Cathy brought the edging she is working on for a table runner (and a basket she wove in the morning).

Helen finished her bookmark from the retreat, in addition to smaller white ornament and rose ground bookmark. She told us that Puerto Rico celebrates international lace day on the first Sunday in May.

Therese won the machine made lace bookmark. It was made by one of the two remaining mills in Nottingham, England. The pattern is reported to be one that Queen Victoria designed.

Our next meeting is a potluck at Candy’s house. June 10th at noon. She will provide brats and hot dogs on the grill. Bring a dish to pass, drink, and chair for a fun afternoon.

4707 W 7 Mile Road, Caledonia, WI 53142.  Call her by June 8th if coming: 262-835-7728 or email:  candyaklee1@gmail.com If you have spare items related to lacing that need a new home, bring to share with others at each meeting.
