Lighthouse Lacers
Wisconsin

June 2019 Lighthouse Lacers Newsletter

Our May 11th meeting was held at a new location - 10225-82nd avenue, Pleasant Prairie, WI - Interspiro conference room. Signs on either end of drive have various names on them, including Ocenco Corporation.

Thanks to Rose Ann’s husband who works there. We will continue to meet at this location on dates listed below.  Meeting time is 1:00 -3:00 p.m.

There were nine members in attendance.

The following items were covered by our President Rose Ann:

Our April 13th all-day retreat was led by Jan.  Jan was a great teacher and seven members were able to work through the techniques of Schneeberger lace.  Rose Ann needs your lace hours by 5-22.  This is to help maintain the non-profit status for our chapter and IOLI as an organization.  Demo hours, travel time to demo, prep time for demo, teaching, and any other activities that promote lace (e.g. ornaments for Hospice Tree) can be submitted.

Hospice Tree - Hospice Alliance appreciates our tree, and we will do one in 2020.  Sylvia volunteered to do the tree topper, Cathy will do the skirt and Rose Ann will do another garland.  Primary color to be white with any accent color you choose.

Jan shared her IOLI tatting proficiency experience.  At last year’s convention, the second person was granted proficiency since the program started. She has a notebook with her 33 samples and notes kept for each project.

The Lacemakers statement was interesting - how long laced, research, what you learned and in what order, glossary of terms that Jan added to and documentation of each project. There were a variety of teachers.

Jan also discussed on one tatting. Tat in Time is an online proficiency for tatters. One of our members blog was listed in the Ring of Tatters, Spring 2019 edition. (yarnplayertats.blogspot.com)

Barbara is a member of a lace exchange and she brought a sample to share.

Sylvia brought several items she had been working on since January: knit lace scarf sampler, filet crochet, hardanger sampler and the start of a bed spread.

Cathy shared her tatted earrings.
