January 2017 Lighthouse Lacers Newsletter

The January 14, 2017 meeting was held at the Northside Library, led by our new president Rose Ann. Eleven members were in attendance. 

1. reviewed roster. Rose Ann will send email requesting if you want to remain on list.
Rose Ann will also provide a list if resources she holds as librarian. 
Suggested each meeting have a "show and tell" session with the opportunity after the formal meeting for assistance with any projects
Since our basket was well received at the last convention, we will do another raffle basket this year. Cathy offered to make the basket. 
Tentatively set our meeting schedule and topics. 
Round robin included Barb sharing new tatting patterns. Marilee showed us her newest book "Tatting with Beads" and samples of brooches she made, shared skeins of her hand dyed threads, and mentioned she has been asked to teach again at the Bead and Button Show in Milwaukee June 4-11. Jan is working on a beautiful black lace shawl - pattern from the piecework magazine, Sylvia is finishing bobbin lace corsages for a wedding, and Cathy made tatted necklaces that will be steampunked. 

2. Makers Day to be held at Civil Way Museum Expo- March 11, 5400 First Avenue, Kenosha, WI between 1 and 3. Members decided to participate to demo lace. Let Rose Ann know if coming so she can appropriate number of chairs at the table she will be reserving. This will be in lieu of the March meeting scheduled for same day. 3. Scheduling rooms at library more challenging. Cathy will check about festival food community rooms.

Bring items for library window display unless you will be able to come the day we will decorate for the March window. The time to set up and take down display to be announced. Theme "Lacing a Rainbow."  Ask Pat to make letters.  Background cloth is light blue.  Fran will provide table.


April 8th - Work meeting. Turn in demo hours at that time. 
May 13th - Will check on video from library
June 10th - Potluck
Discussed not scheduling meetings in July and August
Sept 9th - Rose Ann not here, so Fran will lead meeting
October 14 - Work meeting
November 11th - retreat- wire bobbin lace suggested. Other techniques or teachers, please suggest.
December 9th - Potluck
