February 2023 Lighthouse Lacers Newsletter

The Jan 14th  meeting was attended by 8 members.  Rose Ann covered the following items:

Dues $6. Convention favors for IOLI will be made (Luggage tags), Hospice Tree was won by Fran, 2023 meeting agendas set, Rose Ann will reserve meeting rooms for May, August, October and December meetings. 

Jan volunteered to help with any tatting problems. Trish will be updating the membership and newsletter email contact list. Guild will buy the Battenberg lace kits. Date to order by will be decided next meeting.

IOLI convention signup open online. Jan is going. 

Show and tell of lace: Therese - first torchen piece to frame a picture; Jan - tatted angel wings; Candy - christmas exchange ornament and tatted angel; Helen - basketweave cowl; Rose - grandmother’s crocheted hotbed; Trish - garden of flowers collage; Fran- tatted collar; Cathy had mittens on her needles. 

Kenosha Civili War Museum (Doug Dammann: ddammann@Kenosha.org: 262-653-4140) would like us to demo during holiday celebration, date is tentative for Dec 2nd. 

Feb 11th: Helen bolster pillow and UFO work time 

The February 11th meeting will be at the Southside public library conference room, 7979-38th Avenue, Kenosha, WI. Meeting is from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. The conference room is to the left of the checkout desk inside the library. Our new member, Helen Best, will be bringing her bolster pillow and telling us how she made it. Bring your UFOs and help will be available for questions. Show and tell always welcome.

If you have spare items related to lacing that need a new home, bring to share with others at each meeting.

March 11th: Retreat at Avalon Parc Clubhouse, 6325-44th Street, Kenosha. The entrance to condo is between Hanson Pools and Sunset Ridge cemetery on Green Bay Road.  ( 9 AM til ? with potluck lunch). Bring your own projects, OR, Sylvia also has the bookmarks that she prepared for 2022 retreat available to do. You will need 12 pairs of bobbins, each wound with one yard of size 80 tatting cotton. If you want to use two colors, wind two pairs with one color (workers) and the other ten pairs with second color (passives). The first is a quick pattern so it you want to do others, bring more bobbins and she has five other patterns available. Bring your own pillows and regular tools, she will provide prickings printed on card stock and covered with contract paper, along with starch to spray those finished bookmarks.

September 9th: off to Sheep and Wool show in Jefferson county/ quilt show in Madison

November 11th: retreat at Avalon Parc clubhouse - Hardanger or bring your own project

December 2nd: Demo at Civil War Museum
December 9th: Luncheon, dues, election of officers, optional gift exchange and purchase tree for hospice

2024 IOLI convention in Nashville, TN - no dates yet
